I have recently returned to NZ from Canada and am happy to be back in this amazing country. My art is in collections in the UK, Canada, China, Australia, Europe, Australia, the USA and New Zealand.
Perhaps you don't think of yourself as a collector but you do love good design and beautiful home interiors. You know how art can bring style and excitement to your home as well as uplift your spirit and bring you joy.
Here is a little about my painting process ....
I am fascinated about the power of colour and its mysterious ability to influence feelings and mood. My process is to start a painting by picking a colour that calls to me and let it flow across the canvas with no thought or plan in mind.
Painting very intuitively I begin to notice shapes and movements that randomly appear and I enhance or obliterate them as I respond to the work. The painting suggests to me the next mark to make. I build up multiple layers of both opaque and transparent colour, scraping and drawing back into the layers to enhance the mystery and sense of history. It’s a VERY mysterious process, a process of responding in the moment from feelings and some strange kind of awareness.
Gradually the work begins to come together and starts to feel harmonious. At this stage I spend a lot of time just looking at the work and resolving small details until finally I feel it's finished. But is a work ever finished? Perhaps just a feeling captured or a moment in time.
