THIS PAGE SHOWS SOME OF MY ORIGINAL COLLAGRAPH HANDPRINTS AND THE PLATES I CREATED TO PRINT THEM FROM. YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT THE PROCESS BELOW. PICS COMING.
A COLLAGRAPH is a form of printmaking similar to an etching or a linocut. Each one of my prints is a unique and original piece of art that is created from a plate, inked up and printed onto watercolour paper using a printing press. Although I can use the same plate to take multiple prints from, each print is individually inked up and hand printed and may differ slightly, or a lot, from the any of the previous prints depending on my intention. What makes collagraphs more exciting to me than other forms or printmaking is the texture that is able to be created with this medium. This texture is embossed into the watercolor paper as the print is created by the enormous pressure of the printing press. Even though the print may have multiple colours on the finished print they are all created in just one pass through the press.
