collagraph printmaking and art classes with a difference!
COLLAGRAPH PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP

The weekend of March 31 - April 1,  2012.
10:00 am - 4:30 pm each day
$150.00 includes most materials

Collagraph is an exciting, unfussy and intuitive form of printmaking. The name comes, as the word suggests, from the word “collage” meaning to glue or to stick on. This type of printmaking allows you to create dynamic multi coloured prints in one pass through the press.  In this intensive 2 day workshop you will learn how to build interesting textured printing plates to print from, using a variety of mediums and techniques; how to ink up your printing plate in both the intaglio manner (ink in the crevices below the surface of the plate) and a la poupée (separate areas of the image inked in different colours).  Finally you will also learn how to use “roll ups” of colour to add extra depth to the work before passing the plate through the press and creating your print.

I studied under a master printmaker, Peter Wray RE, at Handprint Studio in the UK and I hope to pass on his inspirational methods here in Toronto.

This workshop will have a small class size and be held in my home studio on Davenport Rd close to Casa Loma and Dupont Subway.  Full payment is due upon registration. Email me to register or if you have any questions.

CREATIVE PAINTING

Experiencing the Moods of Colour

Colour is all around us subtly influencing our lives in ways that you may never have thought of.  In this non technical colour workshop you will start to experience colour in a new and unique way.  We will begin each session by looking at the historical, psychological and spiritual meaning of each of the seven main colours. Using personal imagery gathered through guided visualizations you will then work with each colour to create an expressive painting.  This 4 day workshop is for both beginners starting their creative journey and experienced artists who want a different understanding of the power of colour in our world.
